Fiona Hughes

Lecturer Education and Community Pharmacist

My role brings practice experience and knowledge of the community pharmacy setting to both undergraduate and postgraduate education. My work in practice is based on providing core services and patient advice.

Beyond formal education and training, my career progression has been inspired by role models and mentors from professional and personal life. I have gained invaluable experience through taking opportunities to develop a broader understanding of the pharmacy landscape in both NI and GB.

My 15 years’ experience means I understand the true contribution of pharmacists to the health system. Having worked with pharmacy trainees and in development programmes for early-career pharmacists in NI, I recognise the wealth of talent that enters the profession each year in NI. I have also witnessed the mentorship and guidance that is offered by more experienced pharmacists without question. The dedication that is demonstrated is something that is worth being part of.

I am passionate about supporting learning, development and career progression within pharmacy in NI, particularly for aspiring and early-career community pharmacists.
