Raymond Anderson

Community Pharmacist and Proprietor

I have been a pharmacist for 40 years and pharmacy in NI has given me opportunities I would never have imagined.

I currently have and have previously held a number of roles at local, national and international level including, among others, Presidency of the PSNI, board membership of Pharmacy Forum NI, membership of the UK delegation at the Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union and regional representation and both presidency and trusteeship of the  Commonwealth Pharmacists Association. In 2016, I was also appointed by the European Commission to the European Medicines Agency Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee.

Pharmacy is in my blood. Both my parents were pharmacists and I never wanted to be anything else. In pharmacy, you meet all sorts of people and no two days are the same. Patients come to you because they respect your opinion in matters relating to their health and in particular their medicines. Throughout my career, I have been stretched professionally by taking on roles I could so easily have walked away from. I am proof that what you do today will lead to what you do tomorrow. It isn’t always about planning each step of your career, but more about being ready when opportunities arise. So keep learning and always be ready.
